Giants Beat Cowboys 28-20 in Harbaugh’s Debut

The NFL’s Sunday night season opener: the New York Giants beat the Dallas Cowboys 28-20 in John Harbaugh’s first game as New York’s head coach. Jaxson Dart completed 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns, two of them to Isaiah Likely, and the Giants controlled possession throughout. New York starts 1-0 with an NFC East win already in hand. Dallas, whose offense was built for contention, managed only 244 yards and opens the season under pressure. The next test is whether Harbaugh’s disciplined formula travels beyond a rivalry game.

Harbaugh’s debut win pushed Polymarket’s market on the Giants winning the Super Bowl up to 2.7% (+1.8 pts in 24h). Kalshi’s Dallas title contract fell to 2% (-3 pts).

Vikings Lose Murray, Score 29 Straight to Beat Packers

The NFL’s NFC North opener: the Minnesota Vikings beat the Green Bay Packers 39-22 after losing starting quarterback Kyler Murray to a first-quarter concussion. Backup Carson Wentz threw three touchdown passes, two of them to Justin Jefferson, and Minnesota scored the game’s final 29 points. The Vikings own an early divisional win. Green Bay’s losing streak now stands at six games counting last season. Murray’s status is the number that matters before Minnesota visits Chicago next Sunday.

Even after the 29-point comeback, Kalshi’s Minnesota Super Bowl contract slipped to 2% (-1 pt) as Murray’s concussion weighed on the outlook. Green Bay held at 4%.

Mahomes, Nix Return as Chiefs Host Broncos Tonight

Monday Night Football, the NFL’s Week 1 closer: the Denver Broncos, last season’s AFC West champions, visit the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium at 8:15 p.m. ET. Patrick Mahomes starts for Kansas City after nine months rehabilitating his knee. Bo Nix returns for Denver from the broken ankle that kept him out of last season’s AFC title game. Kansas City is trying to rebound from a 6-11 season, its worst since 2012, while Denver went 14-3 and took the division. Watch Mahomes’ mobility against Denver’s pass rush, and whether the result confirms a real transfer of power in the West.

The sportsbooks make Kansas City a 2.5-point favorite at 55%. Kalshi has the Chiefs at 56% and Denver at 45%, and Polymarket’s over on the 43.5 total sits at 48%.

Second Judge Freezes Trump Mail-Ballot Restrictions

US election law: President Donald Trump’s attempt to change mail-voting procedures before November’s midterms took another court setback. A federal judge late Sunday blocked the Postal Service from requiring preapproval of ballot-envelope designs and from requiring voter identities to be uploaded through an inactive portal. Ballots are already going out in Alabama, North Carolina and Wisconsin, so the timetable decides whether the rules could affect turnout at all. The Supreme Court is considering the administration’s appeal of a separate order that imposed a similar freeze.

No listed market prices the mail-ballot fight directly. The YND Politics Desk Heat index climbed to 2.3pts (+1.2 d/d) as the election-law battle heated up.

WORLD

Trump Tells Ukraine to Stop Striking Russian Refineries

The Russia-Ukraine war and the global fuel squeeze collided: President Trump urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to halt attacks on Russian diesel infrastructure. US diesel prices passed $6 a gallon on average Friday. Ukrainian strikes have forced rationing inside Russia and a ban on Russian diesel exports. At the same time, the Iran war has reduced Gulf fuel shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, leaving two major supply systems impaired at once. Watch whether Kyiv changes a campaign it considers essential to weakening Moscow’s ability to finance and supply the invasion.

With diesel past $6, Polymarket’s odds that Strait of Hormuz traffic returns to normal by December 31 slid to 16% (-4 pts). Putin being out as Russia’s president by year-end sits at just 6% (+1 pt).

ECON

Ten-Year Treasury Hits 5% Before Fed Decision

US bond market: the 10-year Treasury yield hit 5% for the first time since 2023 as oil prices and inflation fears intensified. The yield stood at 3.97% before the Iran war began in February, and average regular gasoline has risen to nearly $4.32 a gallon. Higher long-term yields are already raising mortgage and business borrowing costs. Much of Wall Street now expects the Federal Reserve to raise rates Wednesday. The key question is whether Chair Kevin Warsh signals a single inflation-fighting increase or the start of a longer tightening cycle.

Polymarket now prices a 25-bp Fed hike at this week’s meeting at 84% (+5 pts), with a hold down to 16%. Kalshi’s odds that the rate sits above 4.00% after October jumped to 32% (+10 pts).

Fed raises rates a quarter point at this week’s meeting — 84% (+5)

Polymarket · $2.1M traded · Kalshi · 22K contracts

The Federal Reserve’s rate decision, due Wednesday: after a stronger-than-expected inflation reading, Polymarket prices a quarter-point hike at 84%. The hold contract fell to 16% (−5). Kalshi’s equivalent contract, which pays if the policy rate sits above 3.75% after the meeting, is at 84% (+3). The economists agree with the traders. A Reuters poll taken after Friday’s inflation report found 86 of 101 economists expecting a hike to 3.75-4.00%, reversing a prior no-change consensus, and 53% expect at least one more by the end of March. A central bank that was supposed to be done is about to tighten again.

Sweden’s next prime minister: Magdalena Andersson — 84% (+15)

Polymarket · $765K traded

Sweden’s 13 September general election: exit polls gave the centre-left bloc 51.3% to the right’s 46.8%, with the Social Democrats the largest party and the Moderates edging the far-right Sweden Democrats for second. Reuters reports preliminary results of 176 seats for Magdalena Andersson’s bloc to 173 for Ulf Kristersson’s in the 349-seat Riksdag, a vote margin of about half a point, with overseas and early votes still to be counted. On those numbers Andersson jumped to 84% to become prime minister and Kristersson slid to 15% (−16). The Moderates-finish-second contract flipped to 99.9%. The Sweden Democrats, projected third, were the night’s clearest losers.

Bitcoin above $78,000 at noon today — 92% (+66)

Polymarket · $141K traded · Kalshi · 40K contracts

Bitcoin’s daily price ladder on Polymarket, which settles at noon ET: the coin traded as high as $78,703.80 and sat near $78,393 on OKX. That pushed the $78,000 rung from 26% to 92% in a day. The $80,000 rung faded to 0.5% (−2.5). Kalshi’s finer ladder prices $78,800-or-above at 15%. A few hundred dollars of drift before noon decides these payouts. The YND Bitcoin $100K index sits at 6.3%, unbothered by the day’s wobble.

MLB: Padres at Rockies tonight — Colorado 35% (−5)

Kalshi · 234K contracts

Major League Baseball: the San Diego Padres visit the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field at 8:41pm ET tonight. Colorado drifted to 35% to win and San Diego firmed to 66% (+3), in the busiest single-game trading on either platform. The sportsbooks’ consensus with the house cut removed makes Colorado 38%, so the exchange is three points more bearish on the home team than the people who set the lines. Somebody is paying up for the Padres.

04 Futures

Eighteen long-dated markets, and the only one that submits to arithmetic passes the test. No trade.

When the Fed curve agrees with itself and the rest of the board is novelties or a two-year horizon, the honest position is a blank line on the scorecard.

The candidate pool is eighteen markets. Eight sit at 3% or under — Shakhtar for the Champions League (0.2%), Tim Walz for the 2028 Democratic nod (0.1%), Trump for the Nobel (2.3%) — and those are foregone conclusions, not bets. The Fed takes four: “any hike in 2026” at 89% (+2.5) and October “no change” at 62% (+1) on Polymarket, while Kalshi’s October “above 4.00%” sits at 32% (+10) and December “above 3.75%” at 90% (−3). Democrats for the White House in 2028: 67% (+2), with $266K of liquidity, 784 days out.

The one structural test available runs on the Fed rate curve, and it passes. Kalshi’s September ladder prices a hike that takes the policy rate above 3.75% at 84% but above 4.00% at only 2%, meaning one quarter-point move this week and no more. That matches the outside evidence: Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan both now forecast the hike, the first since 2023, and CME FedWatch puts it near 87%. October “above 4.00%” at 32% is pricing a second hike, and the Reuters poll of 101 economists found 53% expecting at least one more by the end of March, so that leg is not out of line with the professionals either. Take that 32% and the YND Fed Cut Odds index at 2.5% off 100 and our estimate for October “no change” sits near 65%, against a 62% market. Three points is inside the noise of a hold-then-hike path. No edge. The case against sitting out: the Los Angeles Chargers trade at 2.5% on Polymarket and 4% on Kalshi for the same Super Bowl, a real gap in a market too thin and too low to anchor a flagship. We’re wrong if Wednesday’s decision (Kalshi settles Sep 16) breaks the curve; a hold reprices every October leg. Next tests: payrolls Oct 2, CPI Oct 14.

Bottom line: NO TRADE — the Fed curve reconciles to within three points of our estimate, and the rest of the board is novelties or a two-year horizon with no anchor. We revisit after Wednesday’s decision.
05 The Slip

Today’s markets deciding — a side, a price, a time. Trade idea means a documented edge; price to watch means a stated price would change our mind; watch means worth reading, no edge claimed. All markets open at send.

TRADE IDEA · UDINESE @ INTER MILAN — INTER WIN · NO @ 18% · KALSHI · Today 2:45pm ET

Serie A, Udinese visiting Inter Milan. Eight sportsbooks with the vig removed make Inter 79% (line Inter −2); Kalshi prices them 82%. The 3-point gap favors NO, which pays on a draw or an Udinese win. Wrong if Inter simply wins, as 79% favorites usually do.

PRICE TO WATCH · YANKEES @ TWINS — YANKEES WIN · YES @ 54% · KALSHI · Tonight 7:41pm ET

MLB, the New York Yankees at the Minnesota Twins. Sportsbooks make the Yankees 55% (line Yankees −1.5); Kalshi has 54%. One point is noise. We would buy at 52% or below; at 54% the price is fair.

WATCH · BRONCOS @ CHIEFS — CHIEFS WIN · YES @ 56% · KALSHI · Tonight 8:15pm ET

Monday Night Football, Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs, the biggest game on the slate. Sportsbooks make the Chiefs 2.5-point favorites at 55%; Kalshi has them at 56%. No gap. 1.8M contracts have traded on Denver alone, and the Polymarket mirror prices the Broncos 45%.

WATCH · DODGERS @ REDS — DODGERS WIN · YES @ 68% · KALSHI · Tonight 6:41pm ET

MLB, the Los Angeles Dodgers at the Cincinnati Reds. Sportsbooks make the Dodgers 66% (line Dodgers −1.5); Kalshi sells them at 68%, two points rich. Not an edge. The Reds sit at 34% in both places.

Track record: 45 open calls, none graded yet. Only trade ideas and Futures calls are scored; calls are graded when their markets resolve, and wins and misses both stay published.

BIG BET Kch-Temp $123K NFL Week 2 spread: Eagles (−4.5) vs. Commanders · Polymarket Commanders +4.5 @ 46% Sunday afternoon, one trader backed Washington to lose by four or fewer, or win outright; $1 returns roughly $2.17. Outcome unavailable this run.
HEAVY VOLUME Broncos @ Chiefs, Monday Night Football 2.7M contracts KXNFLGAME-26SEP14DENKC · Kalshi Chiefs @ 56% Kansas City hosts Denver at 8:15pm ET tonight; 2.7M Kalshi contracts changed hands, with Denver at 45% matching the sportsbooks exactly.

In the same Serie A match, the account phonesculptor put $114K on NO Torino at 87%, a bet that Torino does not win, within the same hour as the Roma buy. Two accounts, one direction, both against the home side. No settled outcomes were retrievable this run, so nothing above is scored yet.

07 The Longshot

A US recession starting this year is priced at 7% — up 3 points, with 108 days left in the year

Kalshi’s 2026 recession contract ticked up during Fed week. The 2027 version sits at 23% and didn’t move. Our read: the fear is filed under the wrong year.

US economy: Kalshi’s contract on whether a US recession begins in 2026 climbed to 7% (+3) during the week the Fed meets on rates, with 108 days left in the year. The referee is the NBER’s Business Cycle Dating Committee, the academic panel that officially declares when American downturns start and stop. The move came on 23,147 contracts traded against 914,522 open. That is a market-implied 1-in-14 on the economy turning over before New Year’s. The sibling contract for a recession beginning in 2027 sits at 23% (+0) and didn’t budge, which is the first clue about who was buying and why.

To pay out, two things have to happen inside the contract’s 139-day window, not one: a downturn has to begin by December 31, and the committee, which dates turning points in arrears rather than in real time, has to say so before the January 31 settle. The digest carries no recession base rate, so we won’t invent one. What it does carry is the data the committee would be reading. The case for the buyers: Kalshi’s September payrolls contract (above 100,000) slid to 35% (−13), and the YND Labor Worry index sits at 50.6% (+3.2 d/d). The case against: August unemployment printed 4.1% with payrolls at +162,000 against 53,000 expected (BLS, Sep 4), initial claims ran 206,000 for the week ended Sep 5, and our own three-model panel puts October unemployment finishing above 4.2% near 10%. The money: 23,147 contracts is about 2.5% of the open position, so a three-point jump arrived on a thin day of buying, not a repricing. Polymarket’s version of the same question trades at 8.5% according to MacroOdds’ tracker, which also finds no data release or announcement in the past two days that explains the jump. Our read: the 2026 number is borrowing fear that belongs to the 2027 contract at 23%. This is entertainment with a deadline. We’re wrong if the payrolls contract keeps sliding and the 2027 leg finally starts moving with it. ↗
