What happened in the last 24 hours — the stories the money will react to.
Taiwan Court Orders Website Blocks on Coinbase and Kalshi
A Taiwan court has ordered website blocks on Coinbase and Kalshi over suspected election betting, per CoinGape. It lands as the U.S. legal fight grinds on: Semafor reports Kalshi is in no rush for a Supreme Court ruling in its fight with the states, and Google has blocked prediction-market ads in Connecticut as the state blackout grows, per TheLines. Taiwan is also a market in its own right: Polymarket’s contract on China invading Taiwan by the end of 2026 trades on $75K of 24-hour volume with $485K of liquidity.
The invasion contract is one of the quietest big-liquidity markets on the board: 2% (−0.1) in a day, resolving December 31.
Warsh Won’t Pre-Signal the October Call as Bettors Price a Hold
Fed Chair Warsh says he won’t pre-signal the October rate decision, per bloomingbit, and Reuters reports he sees U.S. resilience while staying mum on the rate path. The backdrop, per Reuters: the September FOMC minutes, released October 7, showed most officials expect another hike by year-end, while investors price the October 27–28 meeting as a hold after labor and inflation data came in cooler than expected. UBS predicts further hikes as inflation remains persistent, per Arise News.
Bettors expect the Fed to hold in October. “No change” sits at 86% (+12) on Polymarket, a 25bp hike is priced at 13% (−11), and Kalshi’s mirror of the same decision reads 86% hold, 13% hike.
Midterm Markets: Democrats 91% to Control the House, 18 Days Out
The 2026 midterm markets settle November 3, 18 days from this morning. Polymarket prices the Democratic Party to control the House after the elections at 91%, on $309K of 24-hour volume and $2.6M of liquidity, with no 24-hour change recorded. A trader called burrito338 bought $195K of YES at 91% on Wednesday night. The “Other” leg of the Balance of Power market sits at 0.1% on $376K traded. Our read: a price that does not move while volume keeps coming looks like position-building, not repricing.
A midterm trade is not a removal trade. Polymarket’s “Trump out as President before 2027” sits at just 4% (+0.1); our read is that bettors see no imminent exit.
Big Money Backed the Dodgers at 90% Thursday Night; Tampa Bay–Cleveland Is a Coin Flip Today
The Milwaukee Brewers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers market on Polymarket drew two Thursday-night buys from the account 0F62, $115K and $175K, both at 8:51pm ET with the Dodgers at 90%, after a $153K Dodgers buy at 61% from joseph00677 on Wednesday afternoon. No resolutions were retrieved in this run, so we cannot report how those bets settled. The baseball market in play today is Tampa Bay vs Cleveland on Kalshi: 397,257 contracts traded in 24 hours, the heaviest two-sided game on the board.
Bettors can’t separate the two: Kalshi prices today’s Tampa Bay–Cleveland game at Tampa Bay 51% / Cleveland 50%, a coin flip.
Our Radar Flags Three City-Temperature Brackets for Today
The weather desk’s only tradeable signal this morning is in Kalshi’s daily high-temperature brackets, and our radar flagged three. The NWS forecast high for Austin (Camp Mabry) today is 69°F against a bracket asking whether the high stays below 73°. New York (Central Park) is forecast at 75°F against a “below 75°” bracket, right on the line. Philadelphia (Intl Airport) is forecast at 82°F against an 82–83° bracket. Forecast error at this lead time runs about 1.4°F. These are radar flags, not a settled view.
The Austin below-73° bracket settles tomorrow on 18,226 contracts; the New York and Philadelphia brackets are the ones to watch at the line, not the lean.
Brazil presidential election resolved Oct. 4 — final prices: Lula 22% (+5); Flávio Bolsonaro 78% (−3.8)
Brazil’s presidential runoff, between Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Flávio Bolsonaro, closed for trading on Sunday, October 4, after tightening in the polls. Reuters reported a Datafolha survey (October 13–14, 2,520 respondents) with Bolsonaro at 51% of valid votes to Lula’s 49%, inside its ±2-point margin of error; the prior week read 49–45. A Quaest poll (October 10–13) also had Bolsonaro 51%, Lula 49%. Lula’s contract had risen 5 points to 22% on $1.6M traded in the final 24 hours, and Bolsonaro’s had slipped 3.8 to 78%. Our read: the polls said a tie while the market still priced Bolsonaro the wide favorite heading into the close.
View market ↗US inflation above 3.8% in November’s CPI — 67% (+16); December above 3.8% 45% (+16)
U.S. consumer inflation, as measured by the monthly CPI report, is being priced hotter for the rest of the year. On Kalshi, November’s year-over-year reading above 3.8% (settles December 10) rose 16 points to 67%; December above 3.8% rose 16 to 45%; November above 4.0% rose 10 to 29%. The move comes with the Fed debate tilting toward hikes: Reuters reports the September FOMC minutes showed most officials expect another hike by year-end, and UBS predicts further hikes as inflation remains persistent, per Arise News. The October hike contract nonetheless fell 15 points to 13% on Kalshi over the same 24 hours, with hold at 86% (+10). Our read: bettors expect prices to stay sticky and the Fed to wait.
View market ↗Tesla Roadster does 0–60 mph in under one second — 94.2% (+74)
Tesla unveiled its new Roadster sports car at SpaceX’s McGregor, Texas site Thursday. A live run was clocked at 0.81 seconds from 0 to 60 mph, with help from cold-gas thrusters, per Not a Tesla App. The contract on a sub-one-second time jumped 74 points to 94.2% on $247K in 24 hours before resolving Thursday night. Our resolution feed did not capture the final settlement outcome in this run, and production is slated for 2028.
View market ↗Bitcoin dips to $77,500 before November — 37% (−13)
Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency, traded near $82,100 early this morning (Deribit index). The chance it touches $77,500 at any point before this contract closes November 1 fell 13 points to 37%. That would be a 5.6% slide inside 16 days, and bettors still put it at better than one in three. A separate contract on bitcoin being above $80,000 at noon ET today sits at 96.1% (+23.5). The fear of a further drop eased overnight; it did not go away.
View market ↗NFL, NFC East: Dallas Cowboys win the division — 47% (+7); Philadelphia Eagles 23% (−7); New York Giants 25% (+5)
The NFL’s NFC East division race repriced since yesterday morning. Dallas rose 7 points to 47% on 612K contracts, Philadelphia fell 7 to 23%, and the Giants gained 5 to 25%. No public catalyst explains the move. The Cowboys are now priced at roughly twice the odds of either rival. The next slate of games will show whether that was information or impatience.
View market ↗Apple, the world’s most valuable company on December 31? The market says 29%.
Down nearly five points in a day, with 76 days left to settle the question.
Polymarket prices Apple at 29.4% (−4.7) in 24 hours to be the largest company in the world by market cap on December 31, on $108K of 24-hour volume. The contract resolves December 31, 76 days out.
What the contract asks is simple: whether Apple sits at the top of the global market-cap table at the close of the year. What the price says is that bettors give that a bit less than one chance in three, and that their confidence slipped by nearly five points in a day. Note the plumbing: $85K of liquidity is thin for a question this large, so a handful of sizable orders can move the price without anything changing in the world.
Our read: with 76 days and at least one more earnings cycle for the megacaps between now and settlement, a one-in-three price on a race the market treats as live is not obviously wrong in either direction. The thing to watch is whether the drift continues. A further double-digit repricing on real volume, in either direction, would justify revisiting; a 4.7-point slide on $108K does not. For now we see no edge on either side.
Today’s markets deciding — a side, a price, a time. Trade idea means a documented edge; price to watch means a stated price would change our mind; watch means worth reading, no edge claimed. All markets open at send.
MLB. This is the day’s heaviest two-sided game: 397,257 contracts traded in 24 hours on a coin flip, Tampa Bay 51% to Cleveland 50%. Tampa Bay drifted (−2) overnight.
College football: Texas firmed (+2) to 80%, and Florida holds 21%. The stakes run past today. Texas is 8% to win the national title and 9% to win the SEC, and a loss would hit both numbers.
German soccer, the Bundesliga. $174K traded in 24 hours with Frankfurt up (+3). A 53% Frankfurt win is a strong lean when a draw is also possible: NO pays on a draw or a Köln win.
The biggest individual trades of the last 24 hours — who put money down, how much, and how it went.
The same Seahawks–Broncos market drew more large bets later Thursday. ferrariChampions2026 bought Broncos at 77% ($335K) and cosmicxbt bought at 90% ($198K), while one unnamed account bought Seahawks at 60% ($102K). The Denver price climbed from 44% to 90% across the evening.
A half-point Fed cut this month is priced at 0.1%. $1.1M traded on it in a day.
The committee is debating a hike. The busiest Fed contract of the day asks about the opposite.
The Federal Reserve sets U.S. interest rates and meets October 27–28. A cut of half a percentage point or more at that meeting is priced at 0.1%, yet $1.1M changed hands on that contract in 24 hours, more than on any other October Fed outcome. Everything around it points the other way: no change 86% (+12), a quarter-point hike 13% (−11), and Kalshi’s version of the same question reads 86% hold, 13% hike. Even a quarter-point cut sits at 0.4%.
To pay, the Fed would have to lower its target by at least half a point at this meeting; a smaller cut now, or any cut in December, settles NO. The case against it is on the record. Reuters reports the September minutes showed most officials expecting another hike by year-end, Chair Warsh has declined to pre-signal the decision, and UBS predicts further hikes as inflation remains persistent. Kalshi’s quarter-point-cut leg sits at 1%. That is a lot of trading for a 0.1% outcome. But volume does not show who is buying or why, and a near-certain NO still puts the purchase price at risk: losing shares pay nothing. Our read: the price is information; the volume is the entertainment. ↗
