Appeals Court Says States Can Regulate Kalshi Like Gambling
Mashable reports an appeals court has ruled that Ohio and Tennessee can regulate Kalshi under their gambling laws. BitKE reports the court backed state regulation of sports gambling contracts specifically. The headlines are all we have this morning; the opinion’s text and any response from Kalshi are the next things to read.
The contracts at issue are the ones filling this paper today: Kalshi’s Chiefs–Dolphins game market alone has traded 2.2 million contracts, with Kansas City 85% to win.
Kalshi Traders Price a Quarter-Point Fed Hike at 64% for October
Kalshi’s October Fed contracts lean toward tightening: a quarter-point hike is priced at 64% (+0), a hold at 36% (+0), and a hike of more than 25 bps at 1% (−1). The backdrop in our engine’s sourcing is a Sept. 16 Fed projection round that put median unemployment at 4.1% for Q4 2026 and an August jobs report that beat consensus and had traders raising bets on a hike. Further out, the March 2027 “Fed maintains rate” leg fell to 26% (−11) on thin volume. The October decision is 31 days out.
Polymarket’s mirror of the same October decision covers the other tails: a 25 bps cut at 0.4%, a 50+ bps cut at 0.3%, and a 50+ bps hike at 0.9%. Together the two venues say traders expect tightening, not relief.
Rams a Slim Favorite Over Broncos in Sunday Night Football
Today’s Rams–Broncos game, billed as Sunday Night Football in the New York Post’s promo roundup, is close to a coin flip on Kalshi: the Rams are 55% to win and Denver 46%, on 414,556 contracts traded and 170,830 in the last 24 hours. The spread markets sharpen the picture: the Rams winning by three or more prices at 49%, by four or more at 40%, and Denver winning by four or more at 32%. By volume the game sits 12th on today’s Kalshi board, well behind Chiefs–Dolphins at the top.
Kalshi’s game-winner market has Los Angeles R wins 55% against Denver wins 46%, a modest Rams lean.
Jobs Forecast Holds Unemployment at 4.1% Before Fed Decision
The U.S. economy is expected to have added about 90,000 jobs in September with unemployment holding at 4.1%, according to economists surveyed by Bloomberg on Sept. 26, per our engine’s sourcing. Initial jobless claims came in at 197,000 for the week ending Sept. 19, near a 57-year low, and the August report showed unemployment unchanged at 4.1% with payrolls up 162,000. Hiring that solid would keep another Fed rate increase in October on the table. The September jobs report is due Oct. 2, the next chance for markets to rethink the Fed.
Our read: the market prices the October U-3 contract at 41% for NO — the rate finishing at or below 4.1% — while our models put NO at 71%. With roughly $476 of tradable depth, that is a mispricing to note, not a trade.
Weather Brackets Drift From the Forecast in Miami and Chicago
Kalshi’s daily high-temperature brackets for today are trading away from the National Weather Service in two cities, according to our radar. In Miami, the 89–90° bracket for Sept. 27 prices at 41% against an NWS forecast high of 85°F; in Chicago (Midway), the 71–72° bracket is at 42% against a 69°F forecast. Austin’s 100–101° bracket, at 9%, sits right on a 100°F forecast. Our radar flagged all three; the forecast error at this lead time is about 1.4°F, and deeper analysis is still pending. All three settle tomorrow.
New York’s bracket is the one-sided one: Will the New York (Central Park) high temp be <65° on Sep 27, 2026? 66%, also settling tomorrow.
Heisman Trophy: Jeremiah Smith — 24% (+15); Trinidad Chambliss 6% (−13)
College football’s Heisman Trophy, the sport’s top individual award, has a new favorite after Week 4. On3 reports Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith has taken the lead in Polymarket’s odds; on Kalshi his contract climbed to 24% (+15), while Ole Miss’s Trinidad Chambliss slid to 6% (−13). Jadan Baugh (8%, (+4)) and Keelon Russell (6%, (+3)) picked up the rest. In September this race is a poll of who looked best in the latest games, and next week can redraw it.
View market ↗US–Iran ceasefire holds through Sept. 30 — 90% (+2); through Oct. 31 51% (−1.5)
The US–Iran ceasefire is being priced in two pieces on Polymarket. The Financial Times reports Trump rejected Iran’s ceasefire proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The Sept. 30 contract firmed to 90% (+2), the Oct. 31 contract slipped to 51% (−1.5), and normal Hormuz traffic by Dec. 31 eased to 19% (−2). Our read: traders treat the next three days as safe and the month after that as a genuine toss-up, with shipping expected to stay snarled either way.
View market ↗Big 12 champion: Oklahoma State — 28% (+22)
College football’s conference title races were redrawn over the last 24 hours. In the Big 12, Oklahoma State jumped to 28% (+22), still behind Texas Tech (37%, (+3)) and ahead of Utah at 18% (+4). In the SEC, Florida rose to 11% (+5) while Ole Miss and Tennessee fell to 3% and 1%, each (−4). No public report ties the Oklahoma State jump to a specific result. On 13,264 contracts, a 22-point move is one day’s worth of opinion, not a settled view.
View market ↗2026 Ballon d’Or: Lamine Yamal — 28% (+6.1)
The Ballon d’Or is soccer’s top individual prize, awarded to the year’s best player. Lamine Yamal, the Spain winger, rose to 28% (+6.1) in 24 hours. Separately, the Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports World Cup winner Spain beat England 3-2 in the Nations League. The contract settles Dec. 31; the thing to watch is whose price gives back the points Yamal took.
View market ↗Manchester City at 22% for the Premier League? One price isn’t a case.
Why we’re passing on the most interesting long-dated price in the paper.
Manchester City are priced at 22% to win the 2026-27 Premier League, English soccer’s top division, down (−1) in 24 hours on $88K traded with $313K in liquidity. The contract resolves May 30, 245 days from now. Crosstown rival Manchester United sits at 1.3%.
The reason we are looking at it is the shape of the price, not anything we can verify about the pitch. Twenty-two percent, 245 days out, is a substantial claim on a nine-month season, and the 24-hour move of one point on $88K is small against $313K of liquidity. Nothing in our data explains why the market lands where it does.
For scale, the same venue prices Barcelona at 23% (+1) to win the Champions League and Shakhtar Donetsk at 0.2%, while Manchester United’s Premier League contract sits at 1.3% (−0.1). City’s 22% is in the range of a leading contender, but we do not have the rest of the title board in front of us to say whether it is the favorite.
Our read: with no verifiable catalyst behind the price and eight months of football left to play, this is a bet on information we cannot see, and we don’t take those.
Today’s markets deciding — a side, a price, a time. Trade idea means a documented edge; price to watch means a stated price would change our mind; watch means worth reading, no edge claimed. All markets open at send.
NFL, Kansas City at Miami, the day’s most-traded game at 2.2 million contracts. The Chiefs are 85% to win against Miami’s 15%, while the market on Kansas City winning by 11 or more sits at 47%. Traders are sure of the winner and split on whether it turns into a blowout.
NFL, Seattle against Washington, with 1.3 million contracts traded. Seattle is 77% to win and Washington 24%. The market on Seattle winning by eight or more prices at 53%, and the over on 40.5 total points at 47%, so the lean is a comfortable Seahawks win in a game without many points.
UEFA Nations League, Norway against Portugal. Norway has drifted up 3 points to 42% in 24 hours on $234K traded. Portugal and the draw split the remaining 58%, so a Norway win is still the less likely outcome in the market’s eyes.
MLB, San Diego against Arizona. Arizona swung 7 points to 55% in 24 hours while San Diego fell 10 to 46%, the biggest swing on today’s Kalshi game board.
The biggest individual trades of the last 24 hours — who put money down, how much, and how it went.
raybanman also bought $111K of Dolphins +10.5 at 54% on Polymarket. That is a bet on Miami keeping the Chiefs game within ten points, not on who wins it.
Washington confirming aliens exist before New Year’s is priced at 3.7%. That is four times the odds of a half-point Fed hike.
$247K traded on it in 24 hours. There is no precedent to price it against — and that is the point.
Polymarket lists a contract asking whether the United States government will officially confirm that aliens exist before 2027. It prices YES at 3.7%, up (+0.2) in 24 hours, on $247K of trading against $916K of listed liquidity. It settles Dec. 31, 95 days from this morning.
As written, the question does not pay on a sighting, a congressional hearing or a declassified video. It needs an official US confirmation that aliens exist, and nothing short of that counts. No American administration has ever said it, so there is no history to price from. The nearest comparison sits on the same venue, where a half-point Fed hike in October is priced at 0.9%; the market gives a government press release about extraterrestrial life roughly four times those odds. Our read: at 3.7%, the price is entertainment, not information. The risk, though, is real. Winning shares pay $1 and losing shares pay nothing, so a YES bought here stakes everything on something that has never happened. ↗
